THQ Nordic has officially revealed that Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy will release on August 31, 2023. The announcement comes alongside a new trailer that shows one of the heroes you can play as.
Trine is a long-running franchise initially released for the PC in 2009. Over the years, it has gotten several ports and sequels, including the upcoming Trine 5. The co-op action side-scroller will be available on all consoles upon launch.
Trine 5 Details
The latest trailer reveals more details about Pontius the Knight, one of the characters you can take control of in Trine 5. He can utilize a shield and sword, a charge attack, and a Talisman that allows him to clone himself for puzzle assistance. Expect more trailers about the game’s other main characters before Trine 5‘s release.
The official Steam page of Trine 5 describes it as a 2.5D platformer adventurer with 1-4 player single-player, local, and online co-op modes. You can take control of Zoya the Thief, Amadeus the Wizard, and Pontius the Knight as you go on a daring adventure across a beautiful fantasy world. The game will also feature accessibility options, customizable outfits, a “fairytale soundtrack,” and a thrilling story that puts the other games before it to shame.
Trine is a franchise that has always been focused on cooperative 2D exploration and action. There have always been three character archetypes: a thief, a wizard, and a knight. Each character has its own playstyle and move set, making later playthroughs unique. Trine 5 looks to be an exciting new entry into the franchise that takes elements from all prior games.
