Xbox Game Pass Core Subscription Tier Announced

The successor to Xbox Live Gold.

    Published:

Microsoft have announced Xbox Game Pass Core, a new subscription tier that will replace the Xbox Live Gold subscription on September 14 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. This new subscription tier is regarded by Microsoft as an “evolution” of Xbox Live Gold with additional games and benefits.

The Core subscription tier retains the same features as Xbox Live Gold while integrating features from Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass Core costs $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year, which is the same pricing for the outgoing Xbox Live Gold subscription. In addition, Xbox Live Gold members will automatically become Core members on September 14 and gain access to several benefits.

    Xbox Game Pass Core Overview

The Core membership includes immediate access to 25 select games, online multiplayer, and exclusive deals & discounts. New games will be added two to three times a year according to Microsoft. Ahead of Core’s September 14 launch, the Games with Gold benefit with Xbox Live Gold will end on September 1. Players with Xbox One titles redeemed through Games with Gold will continue to have access to the library as a Xbox Game Pass member. Additionally, any Xbox 360 games redeemed via Games with Gold will be kept in a player’s library regardless of subscription status.
