EA has officially revealed that EA Sports FC 24 will be released on the Nintendo Switch using the Frostbite Engine. The upcoming release marks the first time the Switch version of EA’s FIFA/FC games will use the engine.
The Frostbite Engine is used throughout EA’s studios, powering games such as Dead Space (2023), Battlefield 2042, Need for Speed Unbound, and all EA Sports titles. This includes Madden, PGA Tour, NHL, and of course, EA Sports FC.
EA Sports FC is EA’s replacement for their FIFA franchise. EA’s partnership with the famed sports organization FIFA originally ended in 2022. EA released their last FIFA game in 2023. EA Sports FC 24 will release on September 29, 2023.
The Power of the Frostbite Engine
EA officially revealed their upcoming sports game in a showcase on July 13. Alongside the reveal, Nintendo released a blog post that details what to expect from the forthcoming release:

The Frostbite Engine brings more immersive detail to EA SPORTS FC 24—marking the first time this engine has been used for an EA SPORTS game on the Nintendo Switch.
In addition, PlayStyles optimized by Opta heightens the realism and individuality of each player by interpreting data from Opta and other sources into signature abilities.

EA SPORTS FC 24 also introduces a full Ultimate Team™ experience to Nintendo Switch. You’ll be able to develop your own club legends in Ultimate Team by improving your players with the brand-new Ultimate Team Evolutions, and welcome women’s footballers to the pitch alongside men as you craft your dream XI.
Put your skills to the test in Rivals, offline in Squad Battles, or against the best in Champions. Additionally, you can complete Objectives and compete casually in Friendlies, hit the pitch in Clubs and VOLTA FOOTBALL™, personalize your own Pro, and play with friends throughout the year.
EA Sports FC 24 will mark the first use of the Frostbite engine on the Switch. This opens the door for more games in the future to release on the console using the engine. The Battlefield and Need for Speed franchises all took advantage of the technology. The recent Dead Space Remake also utilized the Frostbite engine to generate the game’s impressive graphics. Only time will tell how EA plans to use the technology on the Nintendo Switch in the future.
Release Information
