The recent Nintendo Direct confirmed that Pikmin 4 will get a new demo before the game releases. Here’s a guide on when, where, and how to get your hands on the demo for the brand-new experience from the world of Pikmin.
When and Where Will the Demo Release?
The demo for Pikmin 4 will be released on June 28, 2023. The release will be approximately one month before Pikmin 4 is officially released on the Nintendo Switch. The demo will be available on the Nintendo eShop. When you search for games on the eShop, an icon will allow you to look at “games with demos.” When the demo is released on June 28, this will be you will download the demo. It will also be available on the Pikmin 4 store page. Click on where it says Pikmin 4 demo and press download. That’s all you need to download the demo.
What to Expect from the Demo
What parts of Pikmin 4 will be playable in the demo is currently unknown. But based on prior demos for Nintendo games such as Kirby and the Forgotten Land, it stands to reason that the first few levels and areas of Pikmin 4 will be playable. If you’ve never played the Pikmin games before, this is a great way to see how much you like the game. More information was revealed in an article from Gematsu:
- Welcome to the Rescue Corps. In this game, you are the newest recruit, and you’ll customize your character before setting off to meet the capable Rescue Pup Oatchi and the plant-like creatures called Pikmin.
- New to the series? Don’t worry—this is a great entry point for anyone that wants to learn more about Pikmin. Collect treasures around the planet to fix the Rescue Corp’s spaceship’s radar and open new areas to explore, including underground caves, where a completely different environment from the surface awaits.
- Pikmin 4 also features Dandori Battles—try to collect more objects than your opponent within the time limit to win and save the castaway.
- Plus, for the first time in the Pikmin series, you can eventually set out for night expeditions. But nightfall sends creatures into a frenzy, so stay alert. Thankfully, you’ll come across the new Glow Pikmin to drive them away.
Release Information
Lastly, Pikmin 4 releases on July 21 worldwide for Nintendo Switch. The demo will be released on June 28, 2023. The game is currently available for pre-order on all online and local retailers.
