Final Fantasy XVI Early Access Guide: Can You Play Early?

How to obtain Early Access in the latest Final Fantasy title.

With Final Fantasy XVI around the corner, you might be wondering how to get your hands on the game early in early access before the rest of the world. Early access has become more popular in recent years, usually a paid feature that allows you to play games before their official release date.

One of the biggest upcoming titles, Starfield, is doing an early access period for those who own the premium tier of the game. With XVI out next week, here is everything you need to know about obtaining early access to it.

Unfortunately, Square Enix did not provide an option for early access with this brand-new title. There are three different editions of the game: Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Edition, respectively. None of these come with perks of early access, which can be disappointing for those looking to get their hands on the game as soon as possible.

The game will launch on June 22, 2023, worldwide. For players in the United States, you can expect the game to unlock at 12 AM EDT on June 22.

Those opting to purchase a physical copy of the game will be able to pick it up at a retailer starting on June 22. Amazon and other online merchants will ship the game out for release day unless otherwise stated.

Luckily, there is a way that you can experience the next chapter in the 36-year-old series early through a digital copy. This can be done by creating a New Zealand PlayStation Network (PSN) Account and then pre-ordering the game through this new account. This can be done by following the below steps:

    1. Awake your PlayStation 5 Console and select New User at the launch screen.
    2. Accept the agreement and select “Create an Account” for the PSN field.
    3. Create a New PSN account and select New Zealand as your region.
    4. To load your wallet, you can purchase New Zealand PSN gift cards through online retailers.
    5. Once you have a wallet with $135 in it, you can purchase Final Fantasy XVI!

With a New Zealand code, you gain an additional sixteen hours of early access that anyone on US PSN does not have access to. This is truly the only way you’ll be able to play the title early, but it is worth it if you truly want those extra hours!

Why Play Final Fantasy XVI Early?

There are many reasons you might want to try to play Final Fantasy XVI early. For one, you might be anxiously awaiting the title. The initial reveal was back in September 2020’s State of Play, where we saw a four-minute trailer revealing Valisthea for the very first time.

Additionally, you might want to avoid spoilers and get ahead in the game before people can upload them to YouTube or Twitter. Whatever the case may be, it’s a respectable decision to want to play Final Fantasy XVI early!
