Halo Infinite – Season 4 Release Date and Other Info

    Infection is finally here.

After three months, Halo Infinite Season 4 is almost here. The new season will introduce long-awaited mods like Infection, as well as new maps and equipment. Here is a guide to everything you need to know about Halo Infinite Season 4!

    Infection

    Halo Infinite Infection

After two years of waiting, 343 Industries are finally bringing back one of the most beloved game modes from classic Halo. First introduced in Halo 3, the idea was simple. There are two teams: an infected and survivors. The mode starts with one infected, and as they kill more survivors, their team grows and grows until there’s only one survivor left. It’s a beloved mode that serves as a stark contrast to the traditional Deathmatch and Capture the Flag modes.

Infection was one of many features absent from Halo Infinite upon its release and is part of the reason why the game has been so divisive over the past few years. But thanks to recent cutscenes and official previews, we now know that Infection will be a cornerstone of the upcoming season.

The mode will function the same way as prior games, with a few key differences. The mode is now intrinsically linked to the multiplayer’s narrative. The idea is that a rogue AI has taken control of the many armors that a player can wield, and with every enemy killed, the infection spreads more and more. It’ll be interesting to see how this new Infection compares to prior incarnations of the mode.

    New Maps and Tools

Two new maps will also be added to Halo Infinite in Season 4, like with every season before it. There will be a new Big Team Battle map in the form of the futuristic-looking Scarr, and a new Arena map called Forest. Two new bits of equipment will also be added to the game. First, there is the threat seeker. It fires a projectile that scans any and all enemies in the environment, marking them for a short period of time.

Then there is the quantum translocator. When the player activates it, they can flee for a short period of time. After a short period of time, they will be sent back to where the tool was activated. This, according to the developers, is set to turn the meta of the game on its head. Time will only tell how the new tools and maps affect the game’s balancing.

    Final Details

Finally, the game will be adding the long-awaited Career Ranks. It’s an actual progression system that works similarly to Halo Reach and The Master Chief Collection. It’s just another feature that should’ve been there at the start that is now finally being added after almost two years.

Details like the new battle pass and what new narrative events will be included are at the moment, still unknown. What we do know for certain is the upcoming release date for the new season.

Halo Infinite Season 4 will release on June 20th, 2023. The new release will be just over a week after the upcoming Xbox Showcase. It remains to be seen if we will learn any more about the future of the Halo franchise at the conference.
