Sega Sammy recently held its investors Q&A, revealing that Sonic Frontiers “greatly exceeded” sales expectations. Additionally, the company expects Sonic Frontiers sales to increase even further with new content on the way.
The Metacritic score of Sonic Frontiers was slightly lower than SEGA expected, but the user score was very high. In addition, SEGA believes Sonic Frontiers is a widely accepted title by fans and newcomers alike. As a result, the company believes it can increase sales of Sonic Frontiers through discounts and content updates. Furthermore, SEGA will continue to promote the series through Sonic Prime, the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 film, and new merchandise.
SEGA expects development costs for new titles to increase in the near future. However, it will strive to develop high quality titles for existing franchises (i.e. Sonic, Like a Dragon, Persona, etc.). Additionally, the company will proceed with higher budgets for upcoming projects to meet these development costs.
SEGA released many more titles in the current fiscal year compared to the previous fiscal year. Further, the company reiterates its belief that Sonic Frontiers will continue to sells in the current fiscal year and upcoming fiscal year. Multiple updates will be released for Sonic Frontiers, and SEGA is considering sales strategies. Once more, SEGA hopes investors and fans look forward to new games such as Like a Dragon: Ishin! and HYENAS. (Thanks, Tails Channel)
Lastly, Sonic Frontiers is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam worldwide.
