Blue Protocol Releases First for PC, Cross-Play Being Considered

Bandai Namco is interested in supporting cross-play.

Bandai Namco recently revealed new details about Blue Protocol in the “Blue Pro Communication #6” live stream such as launch information for PC and potential cross-play.

Blue Protocol launches first for PC in early Spring 2023 in Japan, and the Japan-exclusive closed beta test will be held in January 2023. A specific release date for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S were not announced, but Bandai Namco confirmed the console versions will launch in Japan as well. Cross-play is being considered across all three versions, and Bandai Namco is interested in supporting the feature.

The upcoming online action RPG will be free-to-play with microtransactions. Since the game is free-to-play, physical editions are not planned due to its download-only nature. Microtransactions for the game include cosmetics, enhancement items, and time-shortening bonuses. Post-launch expansions are being planned, but Bandai Namco did not share further details.

According to Bandai Namco, Blue Protocol includes JRPG-esque features such as fishing, camping for health recover, and status buffs. Rabbit-like creatures known as Happy Nappos will offer achievements and other rewards for players that discover them, acting similarly to Rappies from Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis.

Character customization is a prominent feature of Blue Protocol, and players may visit beauty salons and dye shops for further customization. Additionally, Bandai Namco confirms photo and theater modes will be available at launch (Thanks, Siliconera).

Lastly, Blue Protocol launches in 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam worldwide.
