Nippon Ichi Software revealed new details about Ranked Battles in Disgaea 7 within the latest issue of Famitsu.
Disgaea 7 is the first game is the beloved strategy RPG franchise to feature competitive leaderboards due to the introduction of Ranked Battles. However, Ranked Battles do not involve PvP in the traditional sense. Instead, players will set up a party that the AI controls against other players’ AI-driven parties. Although, layers will be able to certain AI priority for certain actions.
A maximum of 10 characters may be assigned to a Ranked Battle party. One of three randomly-selected armies may be chosen for the player to challenge, and each Ranked Battle is limited to 30 turns. If one team isn’t a clear winner, the Ranked Battle will determine the team with the most surviving characters as the winner.
NIS will change the rules and stages each week for Ranked Battles. Ranked Battle-exclusive rewards are available, so it may be worth revisiting every week. Players that climb up the ranks can expect even better rewards (Thanks, Siliconera).
Disgaea 7 releases January 26, 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in Japan. A release date has not been announced for the west by NIS America.
