In a recent interview at Japanese outlet Inside, tri-Ace producer Shingo Mukaitoge revealed that he would love to develop Valkyrie Profile 3 if given the opportunity. Mukaitoge and director Kentaro Arakawa worked on Star Ocean: The Divine Force, tri-Ace’s latest release.
Here’s the interview excerpt via Noisy Pixel:
Inside Games Interviewer: I’m aware that nothing is set in stone yet, but on a personal level, what do you wish to challenge yourselves with? Do you have plans to make a Star Ocean 7, perhaps?
Shingo Mukaitoge: The Divine Force has just been released, so I can’t think of doing a seventh game at the moment… We truly made Star Ocean 6 (Star Ocean: The Divine Force) while trying to meet everyone’s expectations, so if it sells well, then I suppose the possibility and opportunity for a Star Ocean 7 would arise.
However, and this is an entirely personal thought of mine, but I would love to make a Valkyrie Profile 3, as it has been quite a long time since Valkyrie Profile 2 was released.
Further into the interview, the tri-Ace developers confirmed that additional DLC will not be developed for Star Ocean: The Divine Force. Multiple updates are being discussed with Square Enix, however.
Valkyrie Elysium, the latest game in the Valkyrie series, is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. Valkyrie Profile Lenneth releases December 22 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
