Nintendo ships over 77 million amiibo units worldwide

Nintendo plans to continue releasing amiibo each year.

Nintendo published its second quarter financial results presentation for fiscal year ending March 2023, announcing over 77 million amiibo units have been shipped worldwide.

The updated amiibo sales data involves units sold since the initial product launch in 2014 and up to September 30, 2022. Nintendo’s most recent amiibo launch was the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Steve & Alex amiibo set on September 9, 2022. In addition, sales of the Steve & Alex amiibo are included in the cumulative total.

Nintendo plans to release more amiibo products each year including the Splatoon 3 amiibo, which releases on November 11. The Splatoon 3 Inkling (Yellow), Octoling (Blue), and Smallfry amiibo will be sold separately. Splatoon 3 players may scan the amiibo on a compatible Nintendo Switch controller to unlock special in-game gear. Further, players may use the amiibo to save outfits, settings, and controls as well.

“We continue to release new amiibo products each year, and cumulative global sell-in of amiibo figures has surpassed 77 million units,” Nintendo said.

As of September 30, 2022, more than 114 million users around the world own a Nintendo Switch system. Over 917.59 million software units have been sold as well. Nintendo’s third quarter earnings release should arrive in February 2023.
