Pokémon Scarlet and Violet reveals new Pokémon Gimmighoul

A treasure chest mimic appears.

The Pokémon Company revealed a new Pokémon making its debut in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Gimmighoul. Gimmighoul is a new Ghost-type Coin Chest Pokémon.

Previously, the new Coin Chest Pokémon was teased through an official website depicting a treasure chest and countdown timer. The website launched on November 5 at 6:00 a.m. PT with a reveal set for the following day.

Gimmighoul battles from within its Coin Chest, but the new Pokémon has a roaming form without the chest as well in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Further, Pokémon GO players can expect Gimmighoul to appear within the mobile game.

Here’s an overview of Gimmighoul via Nintendo:

Introducing Gimmighoul, the Coin Chest Pokémon!

These Pokémon resemble treasure chests and hide all over the Paldea region, waiting for Trainers to come across them!

Gimmighoul has a second form called Roaming Form Gimmighoul! It doesn’t hide in treasure chests, but it’s small and carries a coin on its back.

They run away as soon as someone approaches, so it seems not a single Trainer in Paldea has ever managed to catch one…

Where are these mysterious coins coming from?
