The SEGA Mega Drive Mini 2 is available now in Japan, and the console’s packaging includes access to a customer survey asking about future mini consoles.
According to Gosokkyu, packaging for the SEGA Mega Drive Mini 2 contains a URL and password to access the customer survey. In the survey, SEGA asks customers about what mini consoles they would like to see next. Options for future mini consoles include the SG-1000, SG-3000, Mk III / Master System, Saturn, Dreamcast, Game Gear, arcade or another edition of the Mega Drive Mini.
Near the end of the customer survey, SEGA asks if the user would be interested in buying a remake or sequel to classic SEGA intellectual properties. Users may rate their interest in classic SEGA IPs on a scale from 1 (definitely not) to 5 (definitely). If the user is interested in classic SEGA IPs, SEGA will ask questions about how the user would prefer to play these new games. Options include faithful re-release, remakes for modern hardware, and sequel for modern hardware.
Overall, the survey contains general questions about the user’s newly-acquired mini console including the purchase date, location/method of purchase, and promotional material. SEGA also asks about the user’s owned platforms such as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC. At the very least, it appears SEGA is interested in what customers have to say about future products and games.
Lastly, the SEGA Genesis | Mega Drive Mini 2 is available now worldwide.
