Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Digital Event reveals new monsters, actions, and tweaks

Monster Hunter Rise had its latest digital event for the Sunbreak expansion this morning, and we’ve got a few reveals of new monsters and other additions! First up, we’ve got Seregios returning from 4 Ultimate with the Bleed status. Additionally, two new subspecies have been revealed- Aurora Somnacanth and Magma Almudron, ice and fire variants of Rise’s new Leviathans. Previous subspecies and more aggressive variants of existing monsters will also be present. We also received new information regarding Malzeno, Sunbreak’s flagship monster.

Next up, we have two new mechanics! Followers are AI controlled hunting buddies that will join you in certain quests. They can be characters such as Hinoa and Minoto, who appeared in the base game, or brand new characters for Sunbreak such as Fiorayne. There’s also Switch Skill Swap, which will allow you to swap between different sets of Switch Skills mid-combat. Additionally, some tweaks have been made to the existing gameplay. You can now run straight up a wall without using a Wiredash, and can now attack a monster without triggering Wyvern Riding when it is in a mountable state.

Lastly, we have a couple bonuses. Players who have Monster Hunter Stories 2 save data can get a Palico Costume based on Navirou, and a special Pro Controller based on Malzeno will be released alongside the expansion. That’s all for the May 10th digital event for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak! You can watch the full presentation below.
