It looks like Sony may have some plans for customization and/or different editions of the PS5 (Thanks, Opattack)! A new patent for PS5 faceplates were filed back in November 2020 and approved on November 16th 2021. The patent reads as “Cover for Electronic Device” and shows the PS5’s faceplates in various diagrams. This is likely a driving factor behind potential legal action against dbrand for their original Darkplates. The company would later patent their own Darkplates 2.0. Luckily, it looks like both Sony and dbrand could be offering their own separate lineups of faceplates in the near future. The PS5 generation began only a year ago.
