Grasshopper Manufacture reclaimed the rights to the Shadows of the Damned IP according to Suda51

In a new interview at Destructoid, Suda51 revealed that Grasshopper Manufacture reclaimed the rights to Shadows of the Damned! The development studio now owns the franchise and Suda51 eludes to the IP’s future. Shadows of the Damned first released back in 2011 for Xbox 360 and PS3 with EA as publisher. It featured a dream team of developers including Shinji Mikami as producer and Akira Yamaoka as composer. According to Suda51, Shadows of the Damned might be one of the games Grasshopper Manufacture is working on. He also mentions other IPs that Grasshopper Manufacture owns that may play a role in the company’s future such as The Silver Case.

Suda states that No More Heroes III is the “end of the story and the end of the series” for now. During development, he felt like it was the right time to develop the closing chapter for the series. It could return in the future, but it’s time to focus on more ideas and long term plans for Grasshopper. However, Shadows of the Damned may rise again to open a new chapter for the company. It would be an amazing opportunity to see a remaster as well. We can’t wait to see what Suda51 and the team bring forward in the near future (Thanks, Destructoid).

Lastly, No More Heroes III is out now for Switch worldwide. Stay tuned at Final Weapon for the latest Japanese gaming news and updates!
