NetherRealm is reportedly prioritizing development of Mortal Kombat 12 instead of a new Injustice game due to uncertainty of WB Games’ future

According to VGC and Jeff Grubb, NetherRealm Studios is already working on Mortal Kombat 12. The company is prioritizing development of Mortal Kombat 12 over a new Injustice game due to uncertainity around WB Games. WB Games’ future is in constant question due to owner AT&T possibly selling off their game studios. This means that NetherRealm could lose their ability to make a new Injustice game since the license belongs with WB Games. Additionally, Mortal Kombat is guaranteed to become a major seller following the success of Mortal Kombat 11. No deal has been reached yet, but its very much within AT&T’s plan for the next two years.
