*Original Article* Valve decided to surprise fans today with a brand new product, the Steam Deck. This is a new PC hybrid portable console starting at $399 and ships in December 2021. This hybrid features a Zen 2 + RDNA 2 APU from AMD similar to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Zen 2 CPU features 4 cores and 8 threads similar to the Ryzen 3300X. Each model also features 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Bluetooth, gyro support and HD haptics are featured in the Steam Deck as well. The entry model at $399 includes 64 GB of on board eMMC memory for storage and a carrying case. In addition, each Steam Deck also comes with a MicroSD slot for added storage.
A dock will be sold separately at a later date and features a ton of ports such as HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C and more. Enthusiasts may be interested in more pricey models of the Steam Deck coming in at $529 and $649 respectively. The $529 model comes with a 256 GB NVMe SSD along with the carrying case and Steam community profile bundle. The $639 model comes with a 512 GB NVMe SSD, anti-glare etched glass screen, exclusive carrying case and other digital items. Those interested may reserve a Steam Deck here starting July 16th.
