Square Enix shares new details about the Final Fantasy XIV PS5 open beta including free trial compatibility, performance modes and more

Square Enix shared a ton of new details today about the Final Fantasy XIV open beta on PS5! The open beta begins on April 13th and all players on PS5 can play it. This means that those who don’t already have FFXIV on PS4 can dive right in with the free trial via the open beta. Players can continue their progress in the PS5 version after the beta concludes. For those unaware, the free trial for FFXIV includes A Realm Reborn and Heavensward expansion up to level 60. Its a great incentive for those who want to dive in and see if the game is for them.

The PS5 open beta and full version take advantage of various performance modes. This includes resolution support for 1080p, 1440p and 4K that can scale up to match the TV/monitor’s output. 4K mode targets a stable 30fps while 1080p and 1440p target a locked 60fps. Additionally, the UI has been enhanced for higher resolutions. Faster load times are present thanks to the PS5’s SSD as well. Lastly, the PS5’s DualSense and 3D audio features are also supported in the game.
