Arc System Works shares feedback regarding the first Guilty Gear Strive open beta, second open beta details are coming soon

Arc System Works released their 5th edition of Developer’s Backyard for Guilty Gear Strive! Akira Katano from Arc System Works shared some feedback from the first open beta and results from their survey. According to the survey results, Ramlethal was the most played character around the world while Sol averaged around 2nd. All surveyed regions also picked Ramlethal as their most fun character to play. These results were picked from over 50,000 submissions across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Oceania and Japan.

Players who participated in the survey rated their experience with the beta’s various modes. Versus mode and training mode were among the most highly rated. Online matches were praised thanks to rollback netcode and further improvements will be made. Meanwhile, Online Lobbies in Network Mode were rated as “Bad” to “Very Bad”. Arc System Works acknowledges that online lobbies really need improvements before release. Katano lists the following changes will be made:

    • Adding a rematch option
    • Changing to a system where players may choose an area where they want to set up a match
    • After a win, players remain in a battle-ready state unless their rating changes
    • Adding an option to hide the news display and expanding the lobby
    • Add a dash mechanic to avatars
    • General visibility improvements in menus across all modes

Arc System Works is also planning to adjust damage as it’s a bit too high right now. Meter gain and jumping is being adjusted as well following feedback from the open beta. Additionally, infinite combos found in the beta are being dealt with before release. Katano states that a second open beta is coming once these changes are ready. More details about the second open beta arrive at a later date. Lastly, the full Developer’s Backyard blog post is available here.
