DOMO Studio, Yooreka Studio and Softstar Entertainment have announced that Xuan-Yuan Sword VII releases in February 2021 for PS4 in the west! This Chinese mythology-themed action RPG is out now for Steam worldwide with a demo. Additionally, the Steam version supports Nvidia RTX technology. The PS4 version recently released on December 10th in Japan so western players only have a short wait to endure. An Xbox One version is also planned but the developers are still working on it.

Xuan-Yuan Sword II receives a major update that adds a new difficulty mode, boss and mechanic on December 18th overseas. The update includes a new title song called “Mohism” which is composed by famous composer Yoko Shimomura. Shimomura’s works include the Final Fantasy series, Kingdom Hearts series and even the Super Smash Bros series of games. Here are more details courtesy of Gematsu:

■ New Difficulty, New Boss, New Challenge

Nightmare Difficulty

Feeling a bit too easy playing in Hard difficulty? A new difficulty setting “Nightmare” is in the game. The first thing you will notice in the Nightmare is that the enemy is doing higher damage to you. Also, you will get slower when your stamina is running out, therefore you need to use your stamina more carefully. Last but not least, enemy AI and moveset got improved, now you will get relentless attacks and combos from enemies like it never ends.

Tundou

New Boss: Tundou is coming up. It is a huge monster with a big mouth which can devour anything in front of it. It possesses the element of Earth and will not hold back it’s power against the player. After you beat Tundou, you can imprison it as a new escort like Taowu.

Stun Mechanism

The good news about Ox and Tiger stance, stunning the enemies is a lot easier with those two stances. You can use them to stun the bosses and execute them for massive damage. Also, there is a huge improvement in parry and counter attack, not only parry will recover your stamina drastically but the counter-attack also stuns the enemies very effectively. Needless to say, it will be handy in Nightmare difficulty.

■ Start Your Journey Again with Immortal Sword

In Xuan-Yuan Sword series, the immortal weapon, Xuan-Yuan Sword, is forged by the very first monarch of Ancient China—the Yellow Emperor. Containing the most powerful energy, this sword is held by the legendary heroine, Wenjin, in Xuan-Yuan Sword VII.

As patch 1.1 is updated, you’ll be offered an incredible chance to use the immortal sword. After finishing the whole game at least once, “New Game+” will be unlocked so that you can begin the journey again with this ancient Chinese immortal sword in your hand. What’s more, you can also keep your level, stance, martial art, and some of your items like potion and currency into New Game+.
