Sony confirms that the PS5 will not natively support 1440p resolution

Microsoft’s Xbox Series X|S supports various resolution options like 1080p, 1440p and 4K (Series X only). This is great for fans who want to game on anything from a standard HD TV, 4K TV or a 1440p high refresh rate monitor. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the PS5 as it skips 1440p entirely. Players will be able to enjoy standard HD (1080p), 4K and even 8K, although native 8K is not possible with most games. 1440p is a new sweet spot as PC players are starting to adopt it more as time goes by. Of course, the PS5 will still work on 1440p monitors but will not natively support it so 1080p will be the resolution to use on said monitor. At the very least, players still have options of 1080p, 4K and eventually 8K when games start to use that resolution.
