The PSN Store is reportedly getting updated on October 19th, disabling the ability to purchase PS3/PSP/PS Vita games and content from web/mobile

The PlayStation Store is getting updated on October 19th for web/October 28th for mobile and brings some big changes. First, players won’t be able to purchase PS3/PSP/PS Vita content like games and DLC from web or mobile. That means that players must have a PS3 or PS Vita to buy games from their respective PSN Stores. As a reminder, the PSP’s PSN Store has been offline for around 8 years since the PS Vita took it’s place. For some reason, wish listing is also removed with the new update. Additionally, apps, themes and avatars won’t be available to purchase from the web and mobile PSN Store. This definitely seems to be a way of phasing out these platforms from general consumption in web and mobile.
