Rocket League is switching to a free-to-play model this Summer

    Published:

Psyionix Studios announced that Rocket League will be switching from its current $20 price tag to a free-to-play model very soon. In addition, it will also be coming to Epic Games Store, after Epic’s acquisition of Psyionix.

It will feature both crossplay and cross platform progression with the versions on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and Steam, and is largely going to be the same product as is on those platforms. However, the version found on Steam will no longer be downloadable after the game arrives on Epic Games Store – though it will still receive all future updates.

Players who adopted before the model switch will be rewarded with the Legacy status, which includes cosmetic items as well as all DLC content released for the game pre-model switch. Players who adopted before today’s announcement will receive the Faded Cosmos Boost item.
