In more PlayStation 5 news, a recent article published by Eurogamer reports that Sony is telling game developers that, beginning on July 13th, any games developed for PS4 must be compatible with the PlayStation 5 during certification.
“This means all PS4 games received by Sony for testing after the middle of that month are technically forwards compatible – playable on Sony’s next-gen console – though it is up to each game’s developer to ensure this is the case,” the article states.
Furthermore, the Eurogamer article states that PS4 games that are submitted for certification before the July 13th deadline, the game wouldn’t be required to be compatible with PS5, but gives them the option to do so and is highly recommended by Sony.
Overall, this article gives us a clearer picture of how backward compatibility will work on PS5. Expect more information on the topic to be shown off during Sony’s official PlayStation 5 presentation on June 4th.
