Marvelous has announced that the company has entered into a capital and business alliance with Image Frame Investment Limited, a subsidiary of Tencent. Image Frame Investment will spend nearly 7 billion yen into Marvelous, essentially buying a 20% stake in the company.
Marvelous will use this investment to strengthen their current IPs like Daemon X Machina, Story of Seasons and more. In addition, Marvelous will be able to launch new IPs. This isn’t the first time that Marvelous has worked with Tencent. In 2019, Marvelous licensed the Story of Seasons IP to Tencent for development of a new mobile game. Lastly, this investment is not directly through Tencent since Image Frame Investment is a subsidiary and holds the purchased stake.
