SEGA has released new information about Yakuza: Like a Dragon! The latest news release includes returning characters that Yakuza fans are familiar with. These characters are making a return in the latest game, here are all the details courtesy of Gematsu:
Kazuma Kiryu:
Kiryu is a former chairman of the Tojo Clan and legend among the Yakuza. He is nicknamed the Dragon of Dojima, last reported as dead in 2016 after the events of Yakuza 6. It seems like the Dragon has some unfinished business.
Goro Majima
Majima is known as the “Mad Dog of Shimano” due to prior events in the series (play Yakuza 0!). He’s the leader of the Majima Family, subsidiary in the Tojo Clan. He’s been reported missing since the Kamurocho 3K operation by the police.
Taiga Saejima
Saejima is the former head of the Saejima Family and known as the 18 Counts Killer. He became a legendary Yakuza and spent 25 years in prison until a prior event in the series. Saejima and Majima are close friends and “brothers,” both are missing since the Kamurocho 3K operation.
■ Their Battle Styles
Goro Majima
Majima’s fighting style is still intact from prior games. However, he can inflict some major damage and paralysis attacks on Ichiban’s party. Deadly slashes and kicks are aplenty.
Taiga Saejima
Saejima’s fighting style includes many heavy blows. His strength and power are formidable, so expect some party members to be sent flying.
Majima and Saejima’s Tag Team Attacks
Majima and Saejima may inflict a combination attack called “Goujin Gousatsu.” This attack is unavoidable so be sure to keep track of the party’s HP before they use this move.
Kazuma Kiryu
Kiryu’s fighting style is reinvigorated for the latest game. His fighting styles from 0 and Yakuza Kiwami return:
- Brawler Style
- Rush Style
- Breaker Style
- Dragon of Dojima Style
Expect counter blows and a seriously tough fight against the legend. He may be getting up there in years, but he has not rusted in the slightest.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon releases on January 16th for PS4 in Japan. Lastly, the game will release sometime this year in the west. Stay tuned at Final Weapon for the latest Japanese gaming news!
