Shawn Layden comments on broader distribution of Sony studio games, “lean toward a wider installed base”

Sony recently announced the acquisition of Insomniac Games today but more news has arrived from the company. Sony Game Studios Chairman Shawn Layden sat down for an interview with Bloomberg. In this interview, Shawn Layden elaborated on boarder distribution of Sony’s future titles. Exclusive titles will always be part of the PlayStation strategy but some games could expand to other platforms like PC. Here’s the excerpt from the Bloomberg article:

In an interview, Shawn Layden, chairman of Sony’s game studios worldwide, said exclusive titles will still be a part of the company’s strategy, but that some games — particularly multiplayer titles designed to be played on personal computers — may see broader distribution.

“We must support the PlayStation platform — that is nonnegotiable,” Layden said. “That said, you will see in the future some titles coming out of my collection of studios which may need to lean into a wider installed base.”

It’s possible to see Sony Worldwide Studios developed games on PC at some point, perhaps more platforms as well. Stay tuned at Final Weapon for more news and updates regarding PlayStation.
