Nintendo and Tencent have seemingly been working together to launch the Nintendo Switch in China. The two companies have just sent out an invitation for a collaborative press conference on August 2nd, 2019 in Shanghai to speak about the Nintendo Switch’s launch in China. Tencent and Nintendo have already gotten approved to distribute Nintendo Switch systems and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe in China by the southern Chinese province of Guangdong. Nintendo’s past in China has been quite interesting. Before mobile games, Nintnedo previously rapped into the Chinese market through IQue players. IQue player was a home console that Nintendo used to make games like a The Legend Of Zelda: Orcarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, Dr. Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, F-Zero X and more. Games from the Famicom, Setellaview, Nintendo 64, Nintendo 64DD, and Nintendo DS download play games were all made available through the IQue Player. It will be interesting to see how the Nintendo Switch performs in China, considering Nintendo’s ips are already well known in that territory.
