Google Stadia has an official release date. Stadia will launch in selected countries on November 19th, Google announced today.
The date became official during the annual Made by Google event earlier today. The Google event was headlined by the unveiling of the Pixel 4 family of devices. As well as a new Pixelbook computer, and Google Nest devices.
It’s important to note that the November 19th launch day only applies to those who pre-ordered the Founder’s Edition of the service. The Base and Pro editions of the service has a planned release window of 2020.
Stadia is Google’s entry into the video game market. The streaming service will compete with other services. Examples being Sony’s Playstation Now, Nvidia’s GeForce Now, and Microsoft’s upcoming xCloud service.
Google has stated that Stadia’s servers would allow games to stream at up to 4K resolution. With up to a frame rate of 60 frames per second. And will be playable on Google devices, and other phones and computers. Google Stadia does have a dedicated controller. Google confirmed that players would be able to use third-party controllers. It will also have keyboard and mouse support.
Google Stadia will be free for the first three months. After that, the service will cost $9.99 per month.
